La couleur de mon objet déco préféré - c'est le sujet de ce mois de mai pour notre collectif de blogueurs déco, Project Inside.

Je suis donc allée chercher chez moi, un objet qui qualifierait en préféré... Mais ce n'était pas aussi simple, trop difficile de trancher. J'ai donc choisi de plutôt vous parler d'une obsession que je me suis découvert, les paniers et sacs de rangement dans la décoration intérieur.

The color of my favorite decorating object - this is the topic of this month of May for our bloggers groupe, Project Inside.
So I started out by looking for an object from my home that would qualify as one of my favorites ... But it wasn't as simple as that, it was too difficult to decide. So I rather prefere talking to you about a bit of an obsession that I found myself to have developped, storage baskets and - bags in interior design.

Au salon Vivre Côté Sud à Aix en Provence en juin de l'année dernière, j'ai vu un stand avec de la mode et de très beaux sacs en cuir. Les sacs étaient de très grandes tailles et sans même réfléchir à l'endroit 'normal' pour un sac (en occurrence, sur l'épaule d'une personne), je les imaginais plutôt dans un joli intérieur de style industriel ou bohème, avec des coussins ou des magazines dedans.

J'aime les grands et beaux sacs et paniers, utilisés pour embellir un styling intérieur et pour ranger des affaires. Sans trop pouvoir l'expliquer, je trouve que ça rajoute quelque chose à un intérieur. Je me demande si c'est la touche naturelle et facile que leur usage peut rajouter à un intérieur.
Et en ce qui concerne le matériau, j'aime tout aussi! Que ce soit du papier, du tissu, du rotin, de l'osier, du feutre ou même du cuir, mon cœur s’emballe pareil.
 

Et plus c'est grand, mieux c'est!

At the Vivre Côté Sud fair in Aix en Provence in June of last year, I saw a booth with fashion and very beautiful leather bags. The bags were very large sizes and without even thinking about the 'normal' place for a bag (which is obviously on a person's shoulder), I sooner pictured them in a pretty industrial - or bohemian interior styling, with cushions or magazines in them.

I love big and beautiful bags and baskets, used to embellish an interior styling as well as storage for stuff. Without being able to explain it, I find that they add something to an interior. I wonder if it's the natural and casual feeling that their use can add to an interior.
And as far as the material is concerned, I also like them all! Whether it's paper, fabric, rattan, wicker, felt, or leather, my heart beats for tem all.
 

And the bigger the better!

Product love - beech wood balcon shelf by Moustache

Aujourd'hui, un article pour vous montrer un petit objet accessoire de décoration, coup de cœur!

Comme vous l'avez pu constater, j'aime particulièrement les idées simples pour la décoration intérieure. La petite étagère vide poche de la marque française Moustache rempli, pour moi, toutes les critères du bon design et de ces idées accessibles.
La simplicité de cette objet et l'utilisation d'un joli hêtre pour sa fabrication, font que cette étagère est non seulement pratique comme vide poche ou pour mettre en lumière un objet du quotidien, je trouve qu'elle est également très belle et en mettant plusieurs sur un même mur, l'effet est vraiment sympa et discret au même temps.

Today, a blogpost to tell you about a small object, a decorating accessory, that took my fancy!

As you probably already know, I particularly like the simple ideas in interior design. The small balcon shelf of the French brand Moustache, for me, fills all the criteria for good design and accessible ideas.
The simplicity of this object and the use of a pretty beech wood for its conception, make this shelf to be not only practical as storage of small pocket items or to highlight an object of the daily life, I find that it is also really stunning and by putting several on the same wall, the effect is really nice but discreet at the same time.

La petite étagère balcon a été designé par Inga Sempé, et Moustache est une maison d’édition française d’objet et de mobilier contemporains.
Bravo à eux pour ce joli objet, je suis sérieusement tentée d'en acheter. Ça pourrait d'ailleurs aussi faire un joli cadeau car je trouve que ce hêtre rentrerai dans tous styles d'intérieur, non?


The balcon shelf was designed by Inga Sempé, and Moustache is a French publishing house in the field of contemporary articles and home furnishings.
Well done to both of them for this lovely object, I'm seriously thinking about buying some. It should, by the way, also make for a nice present for someone because the beech wood wiil suit any style of interior, don't you think?

Product Love - The beautiful story of the Sukhi brand

La belle histoire de la marque Sukhi

Aujourd'hui je voudrais vous parler d'une belle histoire.
Sur ce blog, j'aime régulièrement vous signaler ce que j'appelle un "product-love", ce que l'on pourrait appeler un coup de cœur pour un produit - ou parfois une marque de décoration intérieure. 

 

Pour la marque de tapis Sukhi, dont je vous parlerai dans cet article, ce n'est pas uniquement les produits qui m'ont séduit mais également leur très belle histoire et - éthique.

Today I would like to tell you a beautiful story.
On this blog, I regularly like to point out what I call a "product-love", a special crush on a interior design product or sometimes an interior design brand. 

 

As for the carpet brand Sukhi, which I will be telling you about in this article, it's not just the products that have convinced me but also their very beautiful story and - ethics .

 

 

C'est en vacances au Népal que les deux fondateurs de Sukhi, Nasia Burnet et Wouter Durville, ont trouvé l'idée d'une entreprise sociale. Ils ont été touchés par la situation sur place :  

Nous voulions faire quelque chose de différent et avons décidé de créer un projet pour les aider à améliorer leurs conditions de vie au Népal. Comme nous étions tombés amoureux de l'artisanat du pays et de la qualité de ses tapis, les deux choses se sont unies dans nos esprits et c'est de là qu'a surgi l'idée de créer Sukhi. 

Les changements sont allés très vite et sont flagrants. La dépendance des femmes envers leur mari, typique de la société dans laquelle elles vivent, fait maintenant partie du passé et beaucoup sont maintenant reconnues comme piliers de la famille. Aujourd’hui, ce sont des femmes beaucoup plus conscientes de leur rôle social et on les écoute. Ce sont des mères, épouses, femmes au foyer, professionnelles et entrepreneurs. Des femmes comme vous et moi qui ont le droit à une vie digne, et cela pour nous représente la meilleure partie de ce projet.

It was on a trip to Nepal that the two founders of Sukhi, Nasia Burnet and Wouter Durville, came up with the idea of a social enterprise. They were affected by the local situation:  

We wanted to do something different and decided to create a project to help them improve their living conditions in Nepal. Since we had fallen in love with the craftsmanship of this country and the quality of its carpets, the two things united in our minds and it is from there that the idea to create Sukhi arose.  

The changes have gone very fast and are blatant. The women's dependency on their husbands, typical of the society in which they live, is now a thing of the past and many are now recognized as pillars of the family. Today, women are much more aware of their social role and they have a voice. They are mothers, wives, housewives, professionals and entrepreneurs. Women like you and me who have the right to a dignified life, and this for us represents the best part of this project.

Entre temps, Sukhi fait fabriquer des tapis au Népal, mais également en Inde, au Maroc et en Turquie. Ils aspirent à créer des avantages sociaux et veillent à ce que les artisans, souvent donc des femmes, gagnent plus qu'un salaire moyen, de sorte qu'elles puissent subvenir aux besoins de leur famille. 

   

Nous pensons que les talentueux travailleurs qui fabriquent les tapis Sukhi doivent être bien payés et travailler dans d'excellentes conditions. De cette façon, vous pouvez acheter un beau tapis tout en sachant que l'artisan qui l'a fabriqué est traité avec respect.

Leur devise, si vous êtes heureux, elles sont heureuses. 

   
D'ailleurs, le mot Sukhi est l'adjectif népalais pour 'heureux'. L'entreprise espère rendre heureux tous ceux qui sont impliqués, les couturières traditionnelles, leurs familles et les clients.

In the meantime Sukhi has rugs made in Nepal, but also in India, Morocco and Turkey. They aspire to create social benefits and ensure that the workerss, as said often women, earn more than an average wage, so that they can provide for their families.

We believe that the talented workers who make the Sukhi rugs must be well paid and work under excellent conditions. In this way, you can buy a beautiful carpet while knowing that the person who made it is treated with respect.

 
Their motto, if you're happy, they're happy.

Moreover the word Sukhi is Nepalese for 'happy'. The brand hopes to make all those involved happy, the seamstresses, their families and the customers.

Sukhi offre un grand choix de tapis authentiques, fabriqués selon des méthodes traditionnelles. 
Les matières premières sont naturelles, de bons matériaux manipulés avec soin. 
Chaque tapis est unique et est fait sur commande. En tant qu'acheteur, vous choisissez la couleur, la taille et la forme sur le site Internet et aussitôt commandé, les travailleurs se mettent à le fabriquer. 

En évitant les ventes par des intermédiaires, comme des boutiques, les prix restent plus que raisonnables et cette économie sur les marges permet de payer correctement les artisans. C'est cette action sociale qui est à la base du projet! 

Ce que j'aime particulièrement dans la façon dont Sukhi travaille, c'est le lien personnel que l'on va avoir avec l'artisan. Vous trouverez sur votre tapis, comme j'ai trouvé sur le mien, le nom de la personne qui l'a fait. Et on vous propose même de laisser un message à cette personne pour lui confirmer que le tapis est bien arrivé et qu'il vous convient, qu'il vous rend heureux ! 

Sukhi offers a large selection of authentic rugs, made by using traditional methods.
The raw materials are natural, good materials handled with care. 

Each rug is unique and is custom made. As the buyer, you choose the color, size and shape on the website and as soon as it's ordered, the workers begin to work on it.

By avoiding sales by intermediaries, such as shops, prices remain reasonable and the reduction of margins allow for descent wages for the workers. It's this social action tha's at the basis of the project!

What I particularly like about the way Sukhi works is the personal connection you have, as the customer, with the maker. You will find on your carpet, as I found on mine, the name of the person who made it. And you are even asked to leave a message to this person to confirm that the rug has arrived and that it suits you, that it makes you happy!

Maintenant, il ne reste plus qu'à jouer à pierre-papier-ciseaux avec ma fille pour que je puisse éventuellement le récupérer dans notre chambre.
Car elle aussi, est très heureuse avec mon tapis Sukhi !! 
 
Now all that's left to do is to play rock-paper-scissors  with my daughter so that I might maybe get it back to our bedroom.
Because she too, is very happy with my Sukhi rug !!

Inspirational creatives - Twig Leaves by Jurianne Matter

Un petit détour pas les Pays Bas, encore une fois, mais parfois mon origine néerlandaise oblige. 

J'ai pu aller au salon Show-Up à Haarlem où pleines de marques (autant de grandes que de petites) présentaient leurs objets et/ou nouvelles collections. 

 

J'étais, entre autre, enchantée par les 'kits presse' de beaucoup de ces marques, dont un qui a retenu mon attention. C'était une échantillon de la nouvelle guirlande de feuilles papier de Jurianne Matter.
J'ai adoré et voilà pourquoi, une petit présentation dans cet article. 

A little detour through the Netherlands, yet again, but seeing as yours truly is dutch, I can't help it.  

I was able to go to the Show-Up Event in Haarlem where a lot of brands (both big and small) presented their objects and/or new collections. 

 

I was amazed, also, by the 'press kits' of many of these brands, including one that really caught my eye. It was a sample of Jurianne Matter's new garland of paper leaves.
I so liked it and that's why, a little presentation in this article.

Jurianne Matter est une designer créative néerlandaise que l'on peut déjà connaître de ses sublimes créations en papier qui ont connu beaucoup de succès ses dernières années. Il s'agit des ses anges, fleurs, lampions et vases en papier, décorés de jolis dessins et conçus avec beaucoup de finesse et délicatesse. (J'étais déjà tellement fan de toutes ces jolies choses)

Récemment elle a sortie cette guirlande, fait avec un fil d'aluminium et de jolies feuilles de papier, d'abord en noir. Mais avec l'arrivé du printemps Jurianne Matter a voulu égayer cette idée et les 'tiges' sont devenues blanches et les feuilles vertes.
Ces 'branches de feuilles' peuvent être appliquer de plein de façon différentes - d'ailleurs c'est ce que j'aime tant dans ce design.

On dit souvent, les meilleures idées sont les plus simples et franchement, ici c'est tellement vrai!! Je suis fan.


Jurianne Matter is a Dutch creative designer who's already well known for her beautiful paper creations that have been very successful over the last years. They are her paper angels, flowers, lanterns and vases, decorated with lovely graphics and designed with great subtlety and delicacy. (I'd already been such a fan of all these pretty wannahaves)

Recently she brought out this garland, made with a wire and sweet paper leaves, first in black. But with the coming of spring, Jurianne Matter wanted to brighten up this idea and so, the aluminium 'stems' became white and the leaves green.
These 'twig leaves' can be used in so many different ways - that is, by the way, what I like so much about this design.

It is often said, the best ideas are the simplest and frankly, in this case it is so true !! I'm a fan.

"Twig: En quelques minutes, vous pouvez transformer votre ensemble Twig en une couronne élégante ou une guirlande longue. Chaque feuille de papier est pré-perforée et a des fentes pour enfiler le fil d'aluminium noir à travers.
Une fois enfilé, en avant les possibilités! Pliez le fil dans un cercle et créez une couronne, faites une longue guirlande et accrochez-la du haut de votre meuble le plus haut.

Product love - Hübsch

Le salon Maison & Objet de janvier dernier me semble il y a longtemps déjà. Mais je pense encore beaucoup aux découvertes que j'ai pu y faire. Une des marques de meubles et décoration intérieure, que je connaissais pourtant et que j'ai particulièrement aimé lors du salon, c'est Hübsch. 

Il y a comme un air scandinave très reconnaissable dans leur style, mais je trouve qu'il y a surtout beaucoup d'originalité dans leurs designs et, sans vouloir tout de suite copier le style entier du beau stand, il y avait beaucoup d'objets de décoration et éléments de meubles qui me faisaient sérieusement l’œil .

The Maison & Objet interior design fair of last January seems already a long time ago. But I still think a lot about the discoveries I have made there. One of the furniture - and interior decoration brands, that I already knew and which I particularly liked during the fair is Hübsch.

There is a Scandinavian feel in their style that is quite recognizable, but I find that there is most of all a lot of originality in their designs and, without actually wanting to copy the entire interior of their beautiful stand, there were interior design accessories and furniture elements that seriously caught my eye .

Le mot Hübsch est allemand pour jolie, par conséquent j'étais persuadée que la marque était allemande. En discutant avec le personnel du stand, j'ai pu apprendre qu'en fait la marque est danoise malgré le nom allemand. J'aime beaucoup ce choix de nom car en effet, les objets et le style sont vraiment 'hübsch'.
 
Voilà donc quelques de mes photos du salon et quelques de mes préférés de la nouvelle collection de Hübsch. De quoi vous faire faire connaissance avec cette jolie marque ou, si vous connaissiez déjà, de quoi vous la faire aimer de nouveau !



The word Hübsch is German for pretty, so I was convinced that the brand was German. While talking to the standholders, I learned that in fact the brand is Danish in spite of the German name. I do really like this choice of name because indeed the objects and style are just really 'hübsch'.

So here are some of my photos of the fair and some of my favorite ones of their new collection of Hübsch. It'll get you acquainted with this lovely brand or, if you already knew it, you'll learn to love it all over again !
