Restons encore un peu dans l'ambiance été et vacances, avec cette visite spéciale aux Pays Bas d'un petit caravan, etièrement relooké !
Let's stay in the summer - and holiday atmosphere, with a special visit in The Netherlands of this small caravan, entirely made over !

Après quelques années de camping avec une tente, Jasper et Lisanne avaient envie d'une caravane. Maintenant, ça fait déjà presque 3 ans qu'ils se sont acheté cette petite maison sur roulettes, d'à peine 6 m².

Ils ont trouvé la caravane sur un site internet de particulier à particulier aux Pays Bas et ils ont de suite peint l'extérieur dans les couleurs menthe et blanc

A l'intérieur ils l'ont redécoré entièrement avec autant d'objets neufs que second-main et vintage et les couleurs douces créent une ambiance plutôt mignonne. "C'est un peu comme une deuxième petite maison", disent Lisanne et Jasper.

After having gone camping several years with a tent, Japser and Lisanne felt like getting a caravan.
Now, it has been nearly 3 years that they bought this tiny home on wheels, of not even 6m².
They found the caravan on an internet website for private buying and selling in The Netherlands and they immediately painted the outside white and mint.

The entirely redecorated the inside with new items as well as second hand vintage finds and the soft colors create quite a sweet atmosphere. "It's a little like a second small home away form home" say Lisanne and Jasper.

Les conseils de Lisanne pour décorer des petites espaces:
* ' J'ai pris du papier d'emballage comme tapisserie d'un mur. Les dimensions et surtout les prix des papiers peints ne sont pas toujours comme on ne le voudrait, alors un joli papier cadeau fera aussi bien l'affaire. Si, après l'application, on met une couche de Mod Podge, de la colle blanche, ça marche aussi bien qu'un papier peint .'
* ' Osez! Mettez des couleurs et objets un peu insolites, que vous n'utiliseriez peut être pas si facilement chez vous. Si finalement ça ne plait pas, on peut plus facilement changer et refaire .'

Lisanne's tips for decoating small spaces:
* ' I've used a nice wrapping paper on the wall. The dimensions and moreover the prizes of wall paper aren't always as we would like, so a good looking wrapping paper might do as well. If, after puting it on the waal, you finish with alayer of Mod Podge, it'll stay on as well as real wall paper ."
* ' Be bold! Choose colors and items you wouldn't ordinarily dare to use at home. If the result doesn't please you, you can easily change or start over .'

Avez vous déjà dormi, dans une bus scolaire américaine ? Moi non plus !

Pourtant c'est une expérience que vous pouvez désormais faire, aux Pays Pas. 

C'est dans les dunes de Bloemendaal aan Zee, à l'ouest d'Amsterdam que l'on trouve ce 
lieu de vacances plutôt particulier. C'est les propriétaires du camping De Lakens qui ont eu l'idée d'installer le Beachbus. 
Il est derrière le bâtiment de l'accueil, à l'abri des curieux avec un emplacement bien privé avec deux hamacs, une table piquenique et des fauteuil d'extérieurs de chez le géant suédois bien connu.


Have you already spend the night in an American school bus? Me either !
It is, however, an event you can now go experience, in the Netherlands. 

You can find this holiday spot rather particular, in the dunes of Bloemendaal aan Zee, west of Amsterdam. It were the owners of the campsite De Lakens who have come up with the idea to install the Beachbus. 
It's behind the reception building, hidden from curious visitors, with lovely private surroundings including two hammocks, a picnic table and outdoor chairs from the well-known Swedish furniture giant .

Mais c'est surtout l'intérieur qui est étonnant et qui donne envie de savoir ce que ça donnerai d'y passer des vacances.
Le Beachbus est aménagé avec des lits doubles superposés, une petite cuisine, un petit salon et des toilettes. 
Les personnes plus grandes que 1m85 vont devoir se pencher un peu car les hauteurs des school bus américains obligent. Des coussins crochetés, des magazines, des plantes suspendues et des couvertures bien chaudes rajoutent une touche très éclectique et 'gezellig'* à la décoration. Petit détail amusant, les essuies glaces et le klaxon sont d'origine et fonctionnent toujours !

But it's especially the inside that's surprising and that'll make you curious as to spending the holidays here.
The Beachbus is furnished with double bunk beds, a small kitchen, a little lounge and its own toilets. 
People larger than 1m85 will have to lean in a little, the height of the American school buses will simply make them. Crochet cushions, magazines, hanging plants and warm blankets add an eclectic and 'gezellige'* touch to the interior design. And a fun detail, the original windscreen wipers and horn are still working !

Alors moi, j'essaie de partir aux Pays Bas tous les étés, c'est normal, c'est toujours mon pays et j'ai de la famille la bas. 
Et donc, je ne peux que vous conseiller d'y aller !
Il y a le petit souci de l'instabilité de la météo, quand on est prêt à risquer ses vacances aux Pays Bas. Mais sinon, c'est une idée plutôt rigolo non, de passer quelques jours dans le Beachbus?
Je réfléchi à l'idée, en tout cas . . .

Now I try to go to The Netherlands every summer, which is quite normal, seeing as it's still my home and I have family there.  
And thus, I can only recommend you to go there!
There is the small matter of the instability of the weather, when you decide to risk it and spend your holidays in The Netherlands. But apart from that, it's really a fun idea, spending a few days in the Beachbus, don't you think?
I am looking into it, anyway . . .

Look inside - simply renovated stable in the midst of London

In a city where every square meter is important and thus expensive, two architects, Christopher Dyvik and Isabel Pietri, found this small stable in Victoria Park in Londen. They have done most of the renovations themselves to bring new life to this small building, that was nothing more than a crumbling shell without neither water, electricity or windows when they found it.

Dans une ville où chaque mètre carré est important et donc cher, deux architectes,  Christopher Dyvik et Isabel Pietri, ont trouvé cette petite étable à Victoria Park à Londres. Ils ont fait pratiquement tout le travail eux même pour redonner vie à ce petit bâtiment, qui n'était pas plus que des murs et un toit, sans arrivés d'eau, ni électricité ou même des fenêtres, quand ils l'ont acheté.

Intelligent living - 40 m² Swedish apartment

An apartment of 40 m² with only two rooms, a bedroom and a living with kitchen. No need to have lots of space to create beautiful and personal interior design. The hight of the apartment is used, both in the livingroom and the kitchen, to put up shelves.The bedroom is quite small but you can still walk around the bed. And the use of glass doors and a big mirror allow for the light to come into the bedroom.

Un appartement de 40 m² avec seulement deux pièces, une chambre et un séjour avec cuisine. On a pas besoin d'avoir beaucoup d'espace pour pouvoir créer un bel intérieur et une décoration personnalisée. La hauteur de l'appartement à été utilisée autant dans le séjour que la cuisine pour mettre des étagères. La chambre est plutôt petite mais il y a quand même de quoi se déplacer autour du lit. Et l'utilisation de portes vitrées et un très grand miroir permet la lumière de rentrer dans la chambre.

There is a lot of use of color but the basics are white and wood, this and the coherent artwork make for a wonderfully balanced interior. This place is so smart and so very lovely!

On a utilisé beaucoup de couleurs mais les bases sont blanc et bois, ça et le fait d'avoir une cohérence dans les œuvres d'art ont comme résultat une jolie équilibre dans cet intérieur. Cet appartement est si malin et tellement sympa!

Just imagine changing only the accessories (especially the cushions and the rugs) and the artwork, you could completely change the feel of this interior. 

What a great example of how neutral basics will give you the opportunity to do anything you want with your interior. 

Now that's intelligent living!

Imaginez quand on change uniquement les accessoires (les coussins et les tapis) et les œuvres d'art, on pourrait changer entièrement l'ambiance de cet intérieur.

Quel super exemple pour démontrer qu'avec des bases neutres on donne la possibilités de faire tout ce que l'on voudrait avec son intérieur.

Ça, c'est vivre intelligemment!

To save space between the clothes storage and the bed, this smart wardrobe has no doors in the front but its' access is on the sides.

It looks great too, right?

Pour garder de l'espace entre ce rangement pour habits et le lit, ce 'dressing' très malin n'a pas ses portes frontales, mais l'accès est sur ​​les côtés.

C'est également beau, non?

Intelligent living: A cottage in Denmark

On the website of Danish decorating magazine Bolig I stumbled upon this small family home of the Kastrups.
Whilst looking for a new holiday home they fell in love with this little black cottage on the coast, north of Kerteminde. The only problem, it was a house of 42 sqm and with three children and a dog, that barely leaves 7 sqm per person.

But with a lot of love, good sense of interior and even more patience, they managed to find room for everything and everyone, without breaking through the outer walls of the cottage.

Sur le site Internet du magazine danois de décoration Bolig j'ai trouvé cette petite maison de la famille Kastrup.
En cherchant une maison de vacances ils sont tombés amoureux de ce petit cottage noir, sur la côte au nord de Kerteminde. Seul hic, c'est une maison de 42 m² et avec trois enfants et un chien, ça fait à peine 7m² par personne.

Mais avec beaucoup d'amour, du bon sens de décoration d'intérieur et encore plus de patience, ils ont réussi à trouvé de la place pour tout et tous, sans déplacer les murs extérieurs du cottage.

No real stairs is a clever way of saving space. - Eviter un vrai escalier est une façon maline d'utiliser l'espace.

A half-way wall is ideal to separate spaces without losing the light. 

Un demi-muret est idéal pour séparer des pièces sans perdre de la luminosité.

A handmade bench with storage underneath.  I love the white Tolix chairs.

Un banc fait maison avec du rangement dessous. J’adore les chaises blanches de Tolix.
